Ingredients you'll need...

2 1/2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon mixed spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup golden syrup
1/2 cup butter

    How to make Gingerbread Men...

    1. Mix it up: In a large bowl, combine the flour, bicarbonate of soda, ground ginger, mixed spice, and salt. This will create a dry base for our dough.
    2. Sweet stuff: In another bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar and golden syrup until you've got a smooth mix.
    3. Eggcellent addition: Beat in the egg to the sweet mixture until it's fully incorporated.
    4. Team up: Gradually add the dry mix to the wet ingredients, giving it a good stir until you've got a smooth dough.
    5. Chill out: This is where we play the waiting game. Wrap your dough in cling film and let it relax in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes. This not only makes the dough easier to work with but also helps our gingerbread men keep their shape in the oven.
    6. Preheat: While the dough is chilling, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and get those baking trays ready with some parchment paper.
    7. Roll it, cut it: After the dough has had its chill time, roll it out on a lightly floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Grab your gingerbread cutter and start creating your little dough characters.
    8. Time to bake: Once you've got your gingerbread all lined up on the baking trays, pop them into the oven for 10-12 minutes. You're looking for a lovely golden brown colour.
    9. Cool down: Let the cookies cool on the baking trays for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
    10. Decorate and enjoy: Now for the fun part! Once they're cooled, get creative with icing, candy, or whatever your heart desires.

Remember, Bento Masters, cooking is all about having fun. So, roll up your sleeves and let's create some delicious memories together!

Mum Pro Tip: Wrap empty boxes for Christmas and when your child acts up, throw one in the fire
